As the 2025 General Assembly countdowns begin, the GA Health Taskforce would like to share information about our team, some health concerns we have noticed, and how we plan to prepare for our 2025 General Assembly.

GA Health Taskforce:

In 2022, medical and allied health professionals in CLGI were commissioned by Bishop Mary M. Butler to create the GA Health Taskforce. Our team consists of registered nurses (RNs), certified nurse assistants (CNAs), and a public health professional. We provide triage-level care to saints in need and carry a medical supplies bag with enough supplies to ensure saints are stable enough to be seen at a nearby medical facility.

GA Tracking:

Over the past few years, we have noticed an increase in saints leaving the General Assembly with various infectious diseases such as COVID-19 and the Flu. Although these trends are expected as new strands of these diseases mutate, we want to ensure that we are doing our part to keep the saints safe.

New at the 2025 GA:

After presenting our findings to the General Assembly Planning Committee and to the Board of Directors, the GA Health Taskforce has been awarded funding to provide each family/room with a Health Bag. In these bags, saints will receive Tylenol, single-use thermometer, dissolvable Vitamin-C packets, hand sanitizer, masks, and bandaids. Instructions on how to use these items as well as our team contact information will be found in the bags. We will be tracking to ensure that everyone is able to get a Health Bag that desires one, but we kindly ask that families/roommates only take one.

We have reached out to the Mobile Health Department who has provided us with additional resources we can share with the saints about what to do if they suspect they or a loved one may have COVID or the Flu. Our team will also have limited COVID and Flu tests available.

Guidance for the Saints:

  1. We ask that saints talk with their medical provider about getting updated COVID and Flu vaccines prior to the GA.
  2. We ask that saints begin taking Vitamin-C supplements to boost their immune systems.
  3. We ask that saints pack their daily medicines and any cold/flu medicine they have.
  4. We ask that saints practice proper handwashing and sanitizing.
  5. We kindly ask that all saints who feel/know they or a loved one are sick, have a fever, chills, persistent cough, runny nose, or abnormal body aches would please refrain from coming to service, sending children to the Vacation Bible School, and being in large groups. If you must leave your room we ask that you wear a mask at all times. These are known ways COVID, Flu and other infectious diseases are spread.

By helping us, you will be ensuring that our most vulnerable saints are protected.

We appreciate your careful attention to this matter and we pray that you will keep us in prayer as we try to ensure we have a safe and healthy 2025 General Assembly.

Best,

GA Health Taskforce
